North Olmsted Middle School Student Council is a student directed leadership organization. Our goal is to create positive leaders at N.O.M.S. with the hope that students will implement the leadership skills that they learn while serving as a member of Student Council in future leadership roles.  Student Council has six eighth grade officers. The officers are Co-Presidents, Vice-President, Social Service Director, Treasurer, and Secretary. The officers are voted on at the end of the school year and the officers serve in their position the following school year. Class Representatives and At Large members are voted on at the beginning of the school year and they are active participants in our weekly meetings. The Student council advisors are Mrs. Shari Demby and Mr. Tom Hart. N.O.M.S. Student Council meets every Thursday morning from 7:00 to 7:35 A.M. Our officers and advisors organize the meeting agendas and the officers conduct the weekly meetings. All members have a voice and vote at our meetings!

The planning and implementation of our four school dances is a responsibility of Student Council. Student Council determines the dance theme and they decorate for each dance. We work in cooperation with P.T.A. to make our N.O.M.S. dances a success! We have a D.J. who plays great dance music, we play games, and refreshments and pictures can be purchased. A great time is had by all who attend! Taking care of our community is important to Student Council. The ideas for our social service projects are generated at our weekly meetings. In the past, we collected clothing, food for people and animals, toiletries, coloring books and crayons for kids in the hospital and much more! We raised money for those in need, as well as sent holiday cards to our senior citizens. Student Council cares for others! During the school year, members of Student Council attend a leadership conference to learn about goal setting, promoting school enthusiasm, and positive leadership skills. These are skills they will use their entire lives!

Student Council has a working business! Members of Student Council purchase, stock, and sell items in our N.O.M.S. school store. The latest items to be purchased for our school store are “mood water bottles” and N.O.M.S. pencils. We receive weekly cash flow updates from our treasurer!  All students are welcome to become a member of Student Council!
